ABOUT AOS |
The Alabama Orthopaedic Society (AOS) is a professional medical association comprised of orthopaedic surgeons licensed to practice medicine throughout Alabama and the United States. The Society is dedicated to advancing orthopaedic surgery in all its phases and supporting the professional interests of orthopaedic surgeons across the state.
AOS promotes excellence in musculoskeletal care through education, advocacy, and collaboration. Members represent a broad range of subspecialties and practice settings, working together to strengthen orthopaedic practice and improve patient outcomes throughout Alabama.
The business of the Society is conducted by a Board of Directors and Executive Director. Board meetings are held periodically at various locations throughout the state and during the AOS Annual Meeting each spring. The Board elects a President, Vice-President, and Secretary-Treasurer to oversee operations and guide the strategic direction of the organization.
Membership is limited to licensed orthopaedic physicians holding an M.D. or D.O. degree. AOS hosts an Annual Meeting each spring, occasionally in collaboration with neighboring southeastern state societies. Any licensed orthopaedic physician is invited to attend.
AOS maintains representation at the national level through the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and works collaboratively with regional and national orthopaedic organizations.
